One feature of the upcoming BigFive Summit is a session titled “Startup Showcase: Meet the Next Disruptors” that will expose the Summit audience to the level of innovation in digital commerce emerging from Cape Town’s thriving startup scene.
We’ve invited three Cape Town-based startups to join us at the end of Day 2 (14 May) of the Summit, the final full day before we transition to the half-day B2B Sales Workshop on 15 May.
Meet our startups:
Last Mile for BoP is a startup that has built an app called Shopit that helps “informal” shops in townships and rural areas overcome the “poverty premium” and source goods less expensively.
Arnaud explains the business concept in greater detail in this video.
Uku Inbound is a Hubspot partner that large and small helps companies worldwide sell more effectively using the inbound sales methodology. The inbound sales process is based on the logic that buyers are in control and want to learn about a product or service before they buy. Inbound is all about using content strategically to bring buyers to your front door at a much lower customer acquisition cost. The name Uku refers to the Zulu word “ukukhanya”, which means “light”.
Appy Aps is a Cape Town based digital consultancy and app developer that help businesses bring their ideas to market and also helps businesses use technology wisely. According to its website, the Appy Apps team has consumed 1,563 cups of coffee during the span of its operation.
Additional startups may be added to the showcase before the BigFive Summit convenes 13-15 May at Workshop 17 on Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront. Workshop 17 assisted BigFive Digital with introductions to our Disruptors.
