In February, Grant Greeff was having a banner year at EHire, a business he co-founded while in school to provide a service to provide events with the equipment and supplies they need, from cutlery to table cloths.
Just a month later he and his business partner were scrambling to keep the business afloat as the pandemic cut off demand for their service in an instant. After initially being hopeful they could hang out via cost-cutting and seeking relief when the initial lockdown was extended the business's fate was all but sealed.
Simultaneously, they decided to seize the opportunity and launch a new business that sought to capitalize on opportunities emerging from the crisis. The new company, Open Route, provides logistics technology support to small and midsize businesses.
